Oyibode’s WhatsApp Group Engagement Described As First of Its Kind In Udu History

The Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun(Hon.), Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode JP, FCIA has been widely commended by sons and daughters of Udu Kingdom for his proactive engagement with indigenes both at home and in the diaspora through the Udu Kingdom WhatsApp platform.

Many stakeholders who spoke on the development described the Chairman’s approach as a historic and innovative step in fostering open communication between the leadership of the council and the people.

According to several contributors on the platform, this is the first time in the history of Udu Kingdom that a sitting council chairman has directly interacted with the good people of Udu through a digital platform where questions, opinions, and developmental concerns are freely shared.

They noted that the interactive engagement has provided Udu people with the rare opportunity to receive accurate and timely information “from the horse’s mouth,” thereby reducing misinformation and strengthening trust between the leadership and the grassroots.

The commendation also highlighted the administrative style of the chairman who is also a Professor in Practice at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. Contributors described his leadership style as pragmatic, transparent, and people-oriented.

Participants on the platform further observed that the initiative reflects the value of education and intellectual exposure in governance. According to them, the chairman’s willingness to openly engage the people demonstrates that education plays a significant role in shaping progressive leadership and effective communication.

They therefore encouraged the council boss to sustain the initiative, stressing that such engagement strengthens unity among Udu indigenes and promotes inclusive governance.

Many of the contributors also expressed optimism that the continuous interaction between the council leadership and the people would further accelerate development across communities in Udu Local Government Area.

They concluded by urging other political office holders within and beyond the kingdom to emulate the leadership style of the council chairman, describing the engagement as a positive model for modern grassroots governance.
